Supporters of prominent radio personality Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat have marched to the streets of Ibadan to protest his ongoing arrest in connection with the deadly stampede at a children’s fair.

The incident, which killed at least 36 children, has resulted in murder accusations against Hamzat, Queen Naomi (the event organizer), and others implicated. In a viral video, demonstrators, predominantly women and mothers, expressed their displeasure over Hamzat’s imprisonment and demanded his immediate release. Many people were spotted yelling, “Free Oriyomi Hamzat.” One demonstrator expressed the opinion of many, saying, “His sole fault was to provide for the needy. Oriyomi Hamzat must not be imprisoned!”

The terrible rush occurred after an enormous crowd of over 7,500 people attended an event intended for 5,000 youngsters. The gathering spiraled out of control before security measures could be completely implemented, resulting in a tragic loss of life.

Hamzat, who was present at the event, has been lauded in a viral film for helping to rescue casualties and disperse the throng. Despite this, his detention has sparked outrage from fans who believe he was unfairly implicated.

As the case progresses, Hamzat’s supporters remain resolute in their calls for justice, claiming that his arrest was unjustified. Please watch the video below.
