After disclosing his plans to marry someone other than his six-year fiancée, a Nigerian man has ignited a contentious internet discussion.
The man admitted to marrying someone else in a letter shared with social media influencer @Folarin, even though he had been seeing his present partner for six years.
The man claimed that although he wanted to work things out with his long-term girlfriend, she eventually turned him off with her attitude.
A twist was added when he revealed that he intended to send her a wedding invitation on April 1, 2025, with a subtle hint that he believes she will interpret it as an April Fool’s joke.
“I’m getting married in April 2025. And it’s not to my girlfriend of 6 years. I have heard about people not marrying their long time gfs. And believe me I tried to make it work. But she always made me feel like she was doing me a favor. Will send her invite on 1st April hoping she takes,” he noted.
The letter has since gone viral, sparking diverse reactions. While some criticized him for leading his girlfriend on for years, others sympathized with his decision, arguing that mutual respect is essential in any relationship.
