A herbalist named Ismail Usman allegedly shot himself while trying a bulletproof charm. This was confirmed by the FCT police command in a statement issued Saturday.
The Command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, verified the occurrence and added that the Command had received a distress call from a citizen about it. She stated that the herbalist suffered a life-threatening injury as a result of the assault, which occurred in Kuchibuyi village in the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja. She revealed that cops from the Byazhin Division had responded quickly, arriving on the scene to discover Usman in severe condition.
He was rushed to Kubwa General Hospital for emergency treatment before being moved to Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital for further treatment. Usman was alleged to have chosen a locally made rifle after fortifying himself with the charm he had prepared and shooting himself in the stomach. “In the aftermath, police conducted a thorough search of Usman’s home, recovering the homemade gun and an array of charms used in his reckless experiment,” according to the statement.
According to Adeh, Usman will face charges for unlawful possession of firearms and attempted suicide, both of which violate Section 231 of the Northern Nigerian Penal Code.
