After a video of a violent incident between troops and police officers went viral online, residents of Ilorin poured into the streets.
A user on X (previously Twitter) shared the video, which was uploaded by @General_Somto. It depicts troops on patrol with pistols and sticks, threatening people as if they were anticipating a run-in with the law.
The video did not explain what caused the conflict. The video’s accompanying caption says
: “Challenge Ilorin, Kwara State on fire, police and soldiers dey fight.”
A few police officers conversing with one of the soldiers are depicted in another video clip that is connected to the article.
Many locals were observed yelling and seeing the altercation as it happened.
