A young Nigerian woman wins people over with her moving story of “grass to grace,” emphasizing the value of hard work and the benefits of recycling plastic waste.
The woman, who went by @lovematthew_1 on TikTok and proudly referred to herself as “Dustbin Girl,” stood atop a pile of dirt and disclosed her unusual source of income.
She talked about losing her only sibling to poverty-related conditions seven years ago and how her personal grief fueled her resolve to end her family’s cycle of poverty.
Her mother suffered from high blood pressure as a result of the trauma, and her family’s failure to raise ₦7,000 for his medical care ultimately caused his premature death.
This devastating loss inspired her to pursue an unconventional career in hard labor, going against the grain to support her family.
Her perseverance has paid off, as seen by the fact that she has bought two automobiles and constructed a house for her mother.
A woman talks about how she made a fortune by recycling trash.
“This is my own company. This is my oil city. Where I make my own money. I want to advise Nigerian youths. There is dignity in labour. Seven years ago, I lost my only brother.
“My mother gave birth to five children, four girls and a boy. My brother died because of poverty and his death gave my mother high blood pressure that we’re still struggling with.
“There is dignity in labour.
Work hard and do not be ashamed of what you do. Don’t let anybody make you feel bad about what you do. This is where I make my own money. This place might look dirty to you but it is where I make money.
“My brother died because we could not afford N7,000. After his death, I decided to work hard like a man.
There is nothing I cannot do with my hands. God has really blessed me. With this job, I have built a house for my mother and I have bought two cars as a young girl.”
