According to his public relations staff, Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, 54, had surgery after suffering several stab wounds during an attempted break-in at his Mumbai home.
Known for his parts in Dil Chahta Hai and Sacred Games on Netflix, the actor was assaulted on Thursday.
As Khan heals, his team has asked supporters to maintain composure and patience.
Leading Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor, Khan’s wife, told local media
, “Saif had an injury on his arm for which he is in hospital. The rest of the family is doing fine.”
According to Niraj Uttamani, a top administrator at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai, Khan was injured six times, including twice with serious wounds.
He is receiving medical attention at the moment. The actor, who is the son of renowned actress Sharmila Tagore and former Indian cricket captain Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, has surprised fans with the attack.
Images of police performing forensic tests at Khan’s home were released by the Press Trust of India.
Although the identity of the intruder and their motivation are still unknown, authorities are looking into the event.
Khan has a huge fan base in India and around the world thanks to his roles in more than 70 movies and TV shows.
