Popular Nigerian footballer Victor Boniface has reacted after finding out that a 15-year-old boy he gifted his boots after Nigeria’s match against Rwanda decided to sell them.
In case you missed it, Nigeria played against Rwanda on March 21st and secured a solid 2-0 victory. After the match, Boniface, out of generosity, gifted his football boots to a young fan who had come to watch the game.
Now, here’s where it gets interesting. A recent video surfaced online showing the boy admitting that he sold the boots for $100 to a Rwandan buyer who bargained for them. Guess what? The young boy didn’t just waste the money—he used it to buy a bicycle, school bags, and a uniform for himself.

Boniface saw the video and reacted in a playful way, telling netizens to help him find the boy because, according to him, the boy should at least drop 10% of the money for him.
He wrote:
“Abeg make una find this boy for me. Make he drop 10% of the money ooo.”
Nigerians didn’t waste time before jumping into the conversation. The reactions have been wild!

“People dey say poor decision… I laugh! In a country where people are struggling to find food, what do you expect? But honestly, a smart move would have been to take a picture with Boniface, keep the boots, and sell them for bigger money in the future.”

“I don’t think it was a bad decision at that moment. The boy needed that money badly. It was a good deal for him at the time. If an adult had brokered the deal, maybe he would have gotten more.”
@johnjaydee4945 added:
“The Rwandan guy played a fast one on him. That boot is nothing less than $500 in the market normally.”
Omo, na real street economics be this! What do you think? Did the boy make a smart move, or should he have held onto the boots for a bigger payday in the future?
