Bishop Meshack Molefi Phofedi, a pastor from South Africa, has been arrested for raping his church member’s 14-year-old daughter on multiple occasions.
The Sebokeng Regional Court arraigned the 34-year-old pastor, who leads the New Babillon Apostolic Church in Evaton West, for the offense.
Because he reportedly raped the youngster several times, he is today facing a rape charge.
On August 16, 2024, the vehicle stopped at a gas station to let the 14-year-old girl use the restroom on the way back from a spiritual ceremony in Clearence, Free State, according to reports from the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).
But without the parents in the car knowing, the pastor followed her to the bathroom and sexually assaulted her.
After asking the churchgoer to bring her daughter to the service for prayers, the pastor repeatedly sexually assaulted her.
The mother reported the incident to the police and addressed the pastor. The preacher appeared in court for the first time the day after his detention on March 02, 2025.
The case was rescheduled for a formal bail application on March 13, 2025, which the state plans to contest.
