Dank Demoss, a rapper from Detroit, sued Lyft when a driver turned down her request for a trip because of her girth.
The driver said she was too big to fit in the car, according to Dank Demoss. Dank Demoss ordered a rider to the Detroit Lions viewing party earlier this month, which led to the incident.
But when the driver showed up, he allegedly informed her that she couldn’t fit in his vehicle, saying, “Believe me, you can’t.”
Dank Demoss went on to say that the driver urged her to book Uber XL since her tires were unable to support her weight.
“I’ve been in cars smaller than that,” Blanding told FOX 2. “I just want them to know that it hurt my feelings.”
Her attorneys, Jonathan Marko and Zach Runyan have filed a lawsuit against Lyft for discrimination.
Lyft responded to the allegations in a statement, saying, “Lyft unequivocally condemns all forms of discrimination—we believe in a community where everyone is treated with equal respect and mutual kindness.
Our community guidelines and terms of service explicitly prohibit hara§§ment or discrimination.”
