The sons of billionaire Razaq Okoya, Subomi and Wahab, have been called in by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to be questioned about allegations of naira abuse.

The acting director of the EFCC’s Lagos office, Michael Wetkas, issued this summons, asking the brothers to show up at the commission’s headquarters at 15A Awolowo Road by 10 a.m. on Monday, January 13, 2025.

The Okoya brothers and a police officer clutching stacks of N1,000 notes are featured in a promotional video for a new song, which is the source of the dispute.

There was a lot of negative reaction to this video on social media. The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, announced on January 10 that the police officer in the video had been apprehended and was being held.

Adejobi declared that the officer will be subject to disciplinary action for his unethical behavior.

He posted on X, “The policeman captured in the recent viral video shared by the sons of Lagos businessman, Chief Okoya, where they were abusing the naira, has been identified and detained for disciplinary action.

The involvement of the policeman has been condemned as it’s unethical. We will always strive hard to uphold the sanctity, credibility, and core values of the police.”

There was a social media uproar after this news, with many Nigerians calling for the Okoya brothers to be held accountable for their involvement in the naira abuse.

In a video, social media star VeryDarkMan demanded equal justice and urged the authorities to take action against the billionaire’s sons.
