Due to allegations that ₦180 million was embezzled from a ₦200 million NGO fund, speculation has been circulating on social media about VeryDarkMan’s purported purchase of a Mercedes Benz AMG for several million naira.

This was brought to light via a post that someone on the well-known website X (previously Twitter) published.

Reports that VeryDarkMan had lost ₦180 million as a result of his NGO website being hacked prompted the post.

The influencer voiced doubt, claiming that claims that VeryDarkMan had bought a Mercedes Benz AMG had appeared soon after learning of the purported theft.

The influencer’s statement read: “VeryDarkMan said ₦180 million is missing because his NGO site was hacked. Today, we heard he bought a Mercedes Benz AMG. My question is: Is the money in a bank account opened for the NGO, or was it on the website? Please explain to us like we’re in primary school.”

Additionally, he asked VeryDarkMan to specify if the funds were kept on the website or in the NGO’s bank account.

As soon as the post became viral, worried people flocked to the comment area to share their opinions.

@Engr_Ashile: “Money can make anybody do whatever they preach against.”

@buzzedison: “What I have been wondering. The money cannot be sitting on a website.”

@Ashabul_Jannaah: “If I speak my mind now, they’ll say it’s because I don’t like him. But honestly, 160 million missing and a Benz showing up? Even primary 2 pupils would ask for an explanation. Transparency isn’t too much to ask.”

@VivaDido: “They can’t hack his bank account through his website. Websites do not hold money, but can only be used to set a payment gateway. For money to be stolen, it has to be directly with the bank and the information for such would only be with the acct holder, not in the website.”
