As he highlights their divine role in aiding humanity, Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has urged for greater recognition of local doctors, particularly by pastors.

The actor pointed out in a recent Instagram post that many pastors may be ordained to practice traditional healing (Dibia).

He disclosed that because of social stigmas and Western influences, many people are hesitant to follow this road.

Edochie argued that the way Native doctors are portrayed in Nollywood movies reinforces the idea that their methods are immoral.

He maintained that, unless a person chooses to abuse their abilities, practicing traditional healing is a holy calling from God and should not be seen as bad.

“Many pastors today actually have the calling to be Native doctors (Dibia), but they are refusing to answer the call because Oyibo people brainwashed us to believe it is evil,” he wrote.

He went on to explain that, like pastors or clergy, a true traditional healer battles evil and is essential to maintaining social order. Yul Edochie supports Native physicians.

“Many pastors today actually have the calling to be Native doctors (Dibia) but they are refusing to answer the call bcos Oyibo people brainwashed us to believe it is evil.

And Nollywood has also contributed in making Native doctors look evil.
Being a Native doctor is a divine call from God Almighty, it means you have been chosen to help humanity.

A true native doctor fights evil. Unless he decides to be evil, same way a Pastor can decide to be evil.

Go and answer your call. You may never have fulfillment in your life if you don’t answer your call.”
