Chelsea Beat Leicester as They Continue Their Revival

Chelsea secured their third consecutive victory by defeating struggling Leicester City, extending their losing streak to five games. The Blues started the game brightly, buoyed by their Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund, and took the lead through Ben Chilwell’s well-struck volley from a tight angle against his former club. Both teams hit the woodwork in a two-minute spell through Joao Felix for Chelsea and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall for Leicester, before Felix had a goal disallowed for offside following a VAR review.

Leicester equalized through Patson Daka’s excellent strike after Ricardo Pereira won the ball from a slow-reacting Felix outside the box. However, Chelsea regained the lead just before half-time when Kai Havertz scored an exquisite dinked finish from Enzo Fernandez’s clever aerial ball.

Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk thought he had scored his first goal for the club after the break, but the effort was disallowed for offside. Mateo Kovacic then sealed the victory with a well-taken volley from Mudryk’s header. Leicester’s Wout Faes was sent off for a second bookable offence, leaving the Foxes just one point outside the relegation zone.

Overall, Chelsea’s mini-revival continued with another win, while Leicester’s struggles continued, leaving them with five straight defeats and in danger of relegation. Despite the loss, Leicester showed signs of improvement in their attacking play, with Daka impressing with his goal and Perez and Vardy causing problems for the Chelsea defence. However, the Foxes must address their defensive issues and avoid conceding soft goals if they are to climb up the table and avoid the drop.
